Town of Oyster Bay beaches run on a resident sticker, and the sticker is tied to one vehicle and one driver’s license. Fees and dates below are the ones the Town’s Parks pages post for the 2026 season. Beach staff phone numbers are in the town and village halls guide, and the rest of the move is in the moving checklist, including trash and recycling pickup.

What a beach sticker costs

The Town’s Beaches Division sets one daily fee and one seasonal sticker price.

Item Fee
Daily entry, all Town beaches $25
Seasonal parking sticker, per vehicle $70
Resident discount sticker $35
Residents aged 60 and over Free sticker
Night surf fishing permit, residents Free
Night surf fishing permit, non-residents $60 processing fee

The $70 sticker pays for itself after three $25 daily visits.

How to get a beach sticker

Only residents may buy beach parking stickers for Town of Oyster Bay beaches. Residents must present a valid NYS driver’s license with residency in the Town, their vehicle registration and the vehicle they plan to drive to the beach. In one sticker-sale announcement, the Town named John J. Burns Town Park in Massapequa, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in Oyster Bay and TOBAY Beach as sale locations. The Beaches Division office is at Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa 11758, open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

The Town sets four rules on the paperwork:

  • Stickers are valid for the applicant’s vehicle only.
  • Credentials must match the name and address on the applicant’s driver’s license.
  • P.O. boxes are not accepted for the address.
  • Temporary registrations are not accepted.

Residents with dual residency need their primary residency in the Town and can apply for a waiver online. Waivers are mailed, and the waiver must be brought to the beach to buy the sticker. Stickers are sold at any beach facility or at the John J. Burns Park boat ramps. For sticker questions, call the Beaches Division at (516) 797-4110 or email beaches@oysterbay-ny.gov.

A lease that ends does not strand the sticker: a driver who returns a leased vehicle brings the new vehicle and the original sticker pieces to the place of purchase for a replacement.

Free and discounted passes

Town residents aged 60 and over can obtain a free parking sticker by presenting a driver’s license with Town residency. After receiving it, the senior must be in the vehicle for entry on each visit. If a senior visits in another vehicle, the driver’s license gets a free day pass.

Disabled residents, disabled veterans and Social Security recipients also get a free sticker. The proof is a current-year Notice of Award letter or a valid New York State handicapped parking permit from the Nassau County Office for the Physically Challenged, and temporary permits are not accepted. In person at Town Hall South, the Town lists these documents:

  • Driver’s license and vehicle registration.
  • A valid NYS handicapped parking permit, a current-year SSDI award letter or a current-year VA disability letter.
  • A current-year Town of Oyster Bay tax bill and one utility bill, or for renters a notarized lease and two utility bills.

The Office for the Physically Challenged answers permit questions at (516) 227-7399.

Discounted seasonal stickers are available to Town volunteer firefighters, auxiliary police, active military, USCG Auxiliary and veterans. The resident discount sticker is $35.

Non-residents

Non-resident access is narrow. The Oyster Bay Town Board has restricted beach access to residents only. Tobay Beach is a restricted-access beach on Jones Beach Island, owned and run by the Town, where residents are allowed entry and non-residents have limited access. The TOBAY marina is open to residents only, and non-residents are not permitted. The John F. Kennedy Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary at TOBAY, a 550-acre stretch of protected wetlands, requires an entry permit. The permit is free for residents and $60 for non-residents, who must have a resident sponsor, and it expires at the end of the year.

Which beaches, when they open

The Town Parks beaches page lists the 2026 calendar. Several beaches open on weekends only from May 23, 2026, and TOBAY, Tappen and Roosevelt beaches are open daily from June 27 to September 7, 2026.

Beach What the Town lists
TOBAY Beach Ocean and bayside beaches, transient marina, spray park, playgrounds; hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, lifeguards on duty daily at 9:00 am
Harry Tappen Beach 267-slip marina, playground, swimming pool, boat launching ramp, kayak racks
Stehli Beach, Bayville Long Island Sound swimming, kayak launching; (516) 624-6125
Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park and Beach, Larrabee Avenue, Oyster Bay Beach, playground, boat launching ramp, kayaking
Centre Island Beaches, Bayville Long Island Sound and bayside swimming, kayak launching
Charles E. Ransom Beach, Bayville Avenue Long Island Sound swimming, playground
Beekman Beach, West End Avenue, Oyster Bay Passive park, kayak and dinghy rentals, no swimming
John J. Burns Park, Massapequa Seasonal sticker sales, boat launching ramps, kayak launching, no swimming

The TOBAY daily fee is $25, and a Town resident must be in the vehicle and show a driver’s license. A Tobay seasonal sticker is $70, and the vehicle must be present when you buy it. Tobay Beach also has a 150-slip marina along South Oyster Bay. The name Tobay is a portmanteau for the Town of Oyster Bay.

Boating, kayaks and winter storage

Night surf fishing permits cover 7 PM to 7 AM at a Town beach, expire at the end of the year and must be renewed annually. Non-resident applicants need a resident sponsor.

Kayak racks, ramps and storage

Residents pay $200 for a kayak rack, and a non-resident with a mooring permit pays $300. Resident skull racks at Centre Island Beach cost $300. Racks go first come, first served, with no guarantee of availability. Launching ramps are at John J. Burns Town Park, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Beach and Harry Tappen Beach. A seasonal trailer sticker is $70, a daily launch without one is $30, a commercial launch is $400, and resident senior citizens get the seasonal trailer sticker free.

In-water winter storage is available at Harry Tappen in Glenwood Landing and Theodore Roosevelt in Oyster Bay, from December 1 to March 31. Residents pay $30 per foot, resident baymen $15 per foot, and non-residents $40, at Tappen only. A late removal brings a $50 daily penalty.

North Shore marina slips

Summer season at North Shore Marina runs April 6 to November 8, 2026. Both Theodore Roosevelt and Harry Tappen marinas have a waitlist, and residents pay $10 annually per category size, per marina, to join it. Non-residents cannot join the waitlist but may call the Beaches Division about openings at Tappen.

Marina and slip size Resident Non-resident
Theodore Roosevelt, 31 feet and under $100 per foot Not available
Theodore Roosevelt, 32 feet and up $110 per foot Not available
Harry Tappen, 14 to 17 feet $55 per foot $70 per foot
Harry Tappen, 18 to 24 feet $70 per foot $90 per foot
Harry Tappen, 25 feet and up $90 per foot Not available

Electric is included, and both marinas give a 10% senior discount.

TOBAY marina

The TOBAY marina is a South Shore transient boat basin, open to residents only. The 2026 boating season ran May 2 through October 31, 2026, and the marina closes during the Boat Show. Boaters need a seasonal beach parking sticker or a daily parking pass once the beach season begins. Memberships waive the $50 daily entrance fee, while daily slip fees still apply by vessel size. Membership passes cost $65 for vessels 25 feet and under and $75 for 26 to 31 feet. A-Dock, for vessels 25 feet and under, needs no membership and has no entrance fee. All vessels need valid New York State registration, and the primary owner of a co-owned vessel must be a Town resident.

Parking and special-event permits

The Town’s applications and forms page carries the Town Clerk’s resident parking permit application, effective through March 31, 2028. The Parks Department also publishes a dinghy and kayak permit application, a special events permit application and a JFK Memorial Wildlife Sanctuary permit application.

Accessible parking is a county process. Nassau County’s Office for the Physically Challenged issues New York State handicapped parking permits to qualifying Nassau County residents. Applicants must live in Nassau County and have one or more severe disabilities that impair mobility. A New York State licensed medical doctor, not a chiropractor, must complete the medical certification. The application needs a Nassau County street address, with no post office boxes. Copies or faxes of applications result in immediate denial. See the Nassau County Office for the Physically Challenged page for the form.
